Credit to Muhammad Faizal Ali for making this article for me
Sometimes the effects of usage that are long enough and rarely turned off usually like to hang or not work, often mutually replace the configuration script in a short time and the most often done is when trying to reconfigure in full / overall.
The factor of forgetting username and password is usually an admin will reset. To do the reset itself can be done by several methods, we will discuss one by one for the ways to reset it.
1.HOW TO RESET MIKROTIK WITH CONSOLE / TERMINAL WINBOX:
The main requirement for being able to Reset the Mikrotik Configuration via Winbox is that we can log into the using winbox with the user “full”, for how to reset the mikrotik via winbox can do with the following command:
If you want the configuration to be reset after the default configuration does not need to have a default configuration, you can do it with the following command:
/system reset-configuration no-default=yes
After you successfully reset the above method, automatically all configurations on the are gone.
2.RESET MIKROTIK WITH THE RESET BUTTON IN THE ROUTERBOARD BOX:
Performing a MikroTik Reset with the help of this button is usually because we don’t know / forget the mikrotik username and password so that the first method was not possible.
Reset Button on the RouterBoard we often encounter in several series, but unfortunately not all RouterBoard series are equipped with only a few Reset Buttons.
How to Reset this Mikrotik usually on RB750 RB750r2 Series , RB750gr3, RB450, HAP lite, Hex lite and other RouterBoard serial series can be done with the buttons already on the box.
For the steps you can follow the following ways:
- Prepare Pencils / Ball-pen or anything that is important the size is not too large with the reset button.
- Press MikroTik power position off / MikroTik power cable unplug
- Press / push with the Reset Button pencil (see the picture above), and hold it off yet
- Connect the power / adapter with the reset button still pressed
- Leave the Mikrotik on while the reset button is held for about 10-20 seconds
- When the ACT lamp does not blink then you can release the reset button
Characteristics Mikrotik has been reset is complete, all the configurations that already existed before it will automatically disappear by itself.
3.RESET MIKROTIK WITH A JUMPER
Almost all Mikrotik Series you can reset by jumper.
To reset the proxy with Jumper you need extra power and focus, because the step to reset with jumper mode you have to open the mikrotik casing first
When you have opened the case in the microtik board area there is a small yellow plate which is circular but not connected (see picture above) to reset it, you just provide a screwdriver and then place the screwdriver as shown above.
How to reset with this jumper is usually done on a microtik series that does not have a reset button like the RB1100 microtik.
4. RESET MIKROTIK WITH NETINSTALL
When you have tried from the 3 methods above but you still fail to perform a mikrotik reset, then the last option is to do NetInstall or commonly called by way of re-installing.
For how to install NetInstall is not discussed in this article, there is a separate article for NetInstall.
